Carolina Reef Foundation in Action

This year featured numerous volunteer coral rescue and clean-up dives, with divers traveling from as far as Ontario, Canada, to participate. Coastal Scuba served as our trusted dive charter partner, providing expert support and logistics to make these operations a success. Thank You Captain Brittney!

Through these dives, our volunteers not only rescued and transplanted corals but also worked to clean up debris and monitor reef health, ensuring a brighter future for the Carolina reefs.

• Coral Rescue Dives: This year, our coral rescue dives proved to be a cornerstone of our conservation efforts. During these dives, we rescued as much as 500 years' worth of coral growth per dive, placing the rescued coral fragments in our temporary coral nursery for safe growth and rehabilitation. These efforts have been instrumental in safeguarding the future of the Carolina reefs.
• We extend our deepest gratitude to the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to these rescue efforts. Your passion and commitment were vital to making this monumental achievement possible. Thank you for helping us protect and restore these vital ecosystems!
• Coral  Farm Expansion: Expanded our coral farming operations, adding new      coral strands and rescue boxes to increase our capacity for nurturing rescued corals. These efforts were made possible with the support of Coastal Scuba, and our dedicated volunteers.

•   Student Training Success: A highlight of 2024 was our trip to Bonaire, where we assisted in the training of 24 students in coral restoration techniques. This hands-on program combined snorkel tour, dive tours and specialized training in coral propagation and transplanting, preparing participants to take an active role in global reef restoration efforts.

• Clean-Up Dives: Organized multiple clean-up dives, removing debris from reef habitats to create optimal conditions for coral growth and marine life.
• Reef Surveys: Conducted video surveys across several sites, noting healthy coral populations, minimal bleaching, and thriving ecosystems. These findings guide our ongoing restoration strategies. 

In 2025, we’re launching the Carolina Coral Crusade 2025, a year-long initiative dedicated to amplifying our coral rescue, restoration, and conservation efforts. Here’s how you can be part of this exciting mission:
